Reports to: Project Associate – Central Labs

Job Purpose: Independently, performs chemical, biological, and physical tests, analysis & research in support central lab activities including:
-Research and Projects: (Environmental, nutrition, micro-biology, bio-chemistry, quality control) for various industries including waste water, agriculture, tissue culture, food production
-Services & Training, production, train subordinates and assist in training of assigned trainees under the training unit of the Central Lab
General Functions of the Job Include:
-Operate the most complex laboratory equipment -Analyze and interpret test results.
-Conduct chemical, biological and physical tests.
-Effectively collect samples and specimens.
-Conduct mathematical calculations.
-Maintain laboratory equipment.
-Use computers and a variety of computer software programs.
-Prepare clear, concise and technical reports.
-Lead, organize and review the work of lower level staff.
-Respond to emergency situations.
-Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
-Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Essential functions of the job include:
-Perform chemical, biological, and physical tests including nitrogen species, oil and grease,
-Chemical and biochemical oxygen demand, calorimetric and volumetric analyses, cyanide, trace metals, heavy metals and bioassay.
-Utilize equipment including HPLC, UPLC, an atomic absorption spectrometer, graphite furnace, gas chromatograph, GC / MS, mercury analyzer, total organic carbon analyzer, and UV spectrometer to test for heavy metals including mercury and carcinogenic organic compounds.
Interviews will be conducted in Amman – Jordan during the period 11 – 13 May 2009 .
