JOB PURPOSE:
The Business Analyst role is responsible for ensuring that the most cost effective IT project propositions are presented to the Global Banking and Markets business. This will allow the business to make an informed choice on what solutions meet their requirements and how to proceed. They apply analytical skills to business requests (which may be high-level or lacking in detail) and communicate these business needs in a clear and unambiguous manner.
The Business Analyst provides consultancy services. These consultancy services cover presales consultancy, new proposition definition, and assessing viability of new requests by providing options (Clear Choices) for medium or large scale propositions.
MAIN
Responsibilities:
• Add value to the business by providing business driven IT consultancy, giving information about potential technology solutions, costs and timescales for the business to make informed choices about their investments in IT.
• Proactively promote ideas and income generating or cost saving opportunities that could be exploited to increase business profitability.
• Provide analysis services to business partners to help define propositions and Initial Requests.
• Ensure business partners are aware of other potential project initiatives that present reuse opportunities.
• Work alongside the business to understand their key drivers and metrics to better assess the potential for IT solutions or changes to enhance the business and advise relevant IT teams of the potential for future projects.
• Advise and educate IT on business needs, providing business input for technology solutions to the appropriate IT entities and instruct the IT organization in the nature of their business relationship and requirements.
• Enhance business profitability by assessing the viability of new requests and providing options (Clear Choices) to the business that meet business requirements, align with IT strategy, and maximize reuse opportunities.
• Use approved or appropriate tools and techniques based on RBPM methodology to produce Clear Choices for large scale propositions.
• Review Clear Choices produced by more junior staff
• Use analytical skills to ensure business problems are questioned and understood and the solutions presented are cost effective and timely.
• Provide leadership, direction and motivation towards clear choice production.
• Chair appropriate meetings and produce effective progress reports for assigned solutions to keep management apprised of status and issues.
• Agree handover timescales with Project Managers and clarify the further involvement of the Business Analyst in the project.
• Implement strong planning techniques.
• Prepare and schedule manpower resources and deploy effectively.
• Report progress and problems to management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour
• Recruit, arrange training and develop team members to reach their potential.
