Dubai Shopping Festivals Among Other Shopping Activities
Dubai Holidays Written by admin on 2008-09-29

For those of us that love to shop we also love a bargain! Of course there’s the official Shopping Festival in Dubai, this is a really neat thing to get into if you are in Dubai around this time of the year. The Shopping Festival lasts from January 24th to February 24th, 2008. This time DSF is going to focus on three elements that have come to characterize the annual event – Shopping, Winning and Family Entertainment. Initially, Dubai Shopping Festival was conceived as a pure retail event, the primary aim of which was to revitalise the retail trade in Dubai.

It was later developed into a comprehensive tourism product in line with Dubai’s far-sighted stance to set global standards in every field. Dubai Shopping Festival is basically a shopping paradise. Dubai is known around the world as such a paradise throughout the year, but they really lay out the red carpet during shopping festival month, with over 2,300 retails outlets participating that offer everything imaginable from gold, perfume, haute couture, cars, electronics to handicrafts and textiles. You can find more information about the DSF at DubaisShoppingFestival. But there are also other types of shopping as well, and if your planning to go to Dubai you have to fit these malls and stores into your itinerary!

Gold & Diamond Park – The Gold & Diamond Park is not actually a park, but a shopping centre with more than 100 shops that just sell gold, diamonds and other jewellers! Recently the GDP completed a major expansion including 90 retailers, an outdoor courtyard and a selection of cafes and restaurants which add to the convenience of shopping at Gold & Diamond Park!

Bur Juman Centre – Bur Juman Centre is located smack-bang in the middle of Bur Dubai, and in summer 2005 was extended to now twice its size! There are also many great food outlets: there is a Food Court in the old section with Subway, Burger King, etc. (top level, centre court) as well as a very nice restaurant area on the top floor of the new extension as well. Many great restaurants & cafes, including Gloria Jean’s Coffee (South Court), Cafe Havana (new extension), Dome Cafe (Parking level), Yo! Sushi (Ground level) and Paul’s French Bakery (new extension) have branches in Bur Juman Centre.

Mall Of Emirates – The mall covers 223,000 square metres & is home to over 400 retailers. The mall is of course also famous for Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski slope in the Middle East. And if that wasn’t enough you can choose between 65 restaurants and coffee shops with everything from fast food two themed restaurants & exclusive dining alternatives.

Deira City Centre – Whether you’re a resident of Dubai or visiting the city for a holiday, Deira City Centre has plenty to offer. City Walk comprises of 13 restaurants & cafes. There’s also the 11-screen CineStar Cinema and Virgin Mega-store for all music lovers! This part of the mall has recently (2007/2008) been renovated & now has even more shops. There’s something for every taste & every budget. There are over 300 shops, so if you cannot find what you want, you cannot be helped!

Of course there is like 50 thousand other shops but the ones listed above are some of the highest rated ones available on a few sites I was on, so you should check those out for sure! It’s also a good idea to go online and check these sites out for reviews because sometimes you will find little hints and tips and secrets about the different malls located in Dubai such as best times to visit, busiest times to visit, and bargains.
