• Analyse internal customer needs, then formulate and evaluate alternative solutions to ensure that those needs will be satisfied in the most appropriate and cost-effective way..
• Lead both in-house and outsourced automation related projects in the planning, implementation and delivery of projects of medium to high value, complexity or risk profile, to meet defined time, cost and quality standards
• Ensure the documents provided by engineering consultants and vendors are updated and available before pre-operational activities.
• Prepare the handover procedure and plan start-up and pre-operational activities related to Automation systems with Engineering Consultants and vendors.
• Act as an approving authority for automation related documentation under the department quality procedures.
• Formulate and ensure the change management procedure is effectively implemented during commissioning, start-up and steady state operation.
• Monitor and evaluate the work of engineering contractors to ensure that health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are maintained in order to meet or exceed company policy requirements in these areas.
• Provide technical expertise to Operations and Maintenance managers to ensure modifications to the plant are performed correctly and effectively.
• Support the company continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that these are implemented in accordance with sound engineering principle.
• Provide input to Supply and Finance managers to ensure that expenditure of company capital resources is planned and applied effectively and efficiently
