To provide direction to regional financial activities of Virgin by performing duties personally and through subordinates.Key Responsibilities :
Provide high-level, strategic consultative advice to General Manager and other Virgin staff to allow the realisation of growth plans, cost saving or efficiency opportunities Develop financial strategy in line with overall Virgin strategic objectives Define a common regional approach to finance (exchange best practices) Develop and manage a multi-site finance and accounting team Deputise the General Manager in her absence and operate on Board level when required Define and develop finance and accounting plans, policies and procedures in line with overall financial strategy in order to support the achievement of overall business objectives Assure effective implementation of plans and policies:
set (budget) goals and objectives, manage performance, develop and motivate employees Investigate and solve problem areas, discrepancies and verify that revenue and expenses are booked when their economic benefit is enjoyed Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justifications Communicate on budgets with budget responsible; educate non-financial people to work within budget limitationsDevelop a common understanding with purchasing, marketing and loyalty program teams on targets for performance and improvement Strengthen internal control measures (e.g. Purchase Order approval) to be able to prevent unjust spend Proactively identify and bring under attention of management any (financial) risk to performanceRe-engineer the balance sheet with objective to minimise risk and arrange external financing for growth and working capital where necessaryReport on the financial situation of the company in a transparent and timely fashion towards management, the Group and shareholders Establish relationships with banks and auditorsBe gate keeper of the company with regards to right and wrong behaviour
