The Conference Marketing department handles all the promotion of IIR Middle East training course and conference programmes. This includes direct marketing, e-marketing, faxing, advertising (print and online) and telemarketing across approximately 400 events per year.
A typical Marketing Manager will be working on between 15-20 events at any one time, as the events typically have a 4mth cycle from initial briefing to post event analysis. Past analysis is key in learning and driving future success to the marketing campaigns. The Marketing Manager must co-ordinate the campaign for each event and makes use of the different promotional activities available, sometimes working on small budgets with tight deadlines. Support departments of Web and Telesales are key to making sure promotions are carried out to the required standards, on budget and on time.
Job Purpose:
•Market conferences and training seminars by creating awareness though various media including mail, fax, email, telesales, website etc
•Manage all these marketing channels effectively within budget and set timelines
Key Performance Indicators:
•Effective pre event analysis
•On-time campaign implementation
•Successful negotiation of contra agreements with external parties
•Timely completion of final event analysis
•Market the KPI report
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Event Marketing:
•Create event target market profiles
•Analyse selections from previous marketing plans and create effective selections based on this analysis
•Conduct research using all marketing tools
•Use external lists, swaps, contras, banner ads etc for each event
•Pursue all relevant industry magazines and associations for endorsement of each event
•Write plans according to the conference marketing framework including internal lists, monitoring external research and selections, approving swap deals, helping to close official publications deals, ensuring that pre-plan analysis has been completed satisfactorily and that budgets and costs are accurate
•Ensure event websites are fully up to date with latest information
•Manage the PR agency in co-ordination with the event producer
•Coordinate the design and production of all marketing collateral, including event brochures, print advertisements, web banners/emails etc.
•Copywrite and proof all marketing materials in conjunction with the event producer
•Update and adhere to the agreed marketing budget
•Provide and produce KPI reports for monthly update meetings with Marketing Director
Marketing Methodology:
•Understand how to run a test including an A/B split and how to interpret the results
•Understand the difference between which marketing methodologies should be used and when
•Feedback different campaign results to Marketing Director
•Create and foster strategic alliances with magazines, associations and other joint promotion opportunities
Database development:
•Have a thorough working knowledge of the database
•Check database for necessary data build at the topic brief stage of each event
•Manage division list competition and set strategy based on source thermometer and database build strategy
•Build Database minimum 500 names per event based on source analysis of event product group
•Understand data protection legislation and the impact on the business
•Check database lists regularly to ensure correct descriptions and coding
Staff Management
•Mentoring new recruits through the internal marketing training programme
•Undertake recruitment interviews as appropriate
General:
•Work on ad-hoc marketing projects with the Marketing Director
•Manage and co-ordinate all external suppliers including Print, Mailing House, Design and Research.
•Provide any other reporting information as required by production team
•Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility
